🔊 Midnight.-The forecastle bulwarks.-Stubb and Flask mounted on them, and passing additional lashings over the anchors there hanging. But all the sailors were not so employed; for away forward on the forecastle, some were smoking and talking, others were singing, and some were asleep. But what is that? A low, stifled moan, as of a dying walrus, comes from the fore-peak. It is the groans of the sleepless Ahab, from his hammock in the bow.
